A two-year project that will enable us to identify the opportunities and threats associated with our growing communities, consider future implications, and develop strategies to address them. This project will provide an opportunity to discuss and share thoughts and ideas on natural resources in urban and community areas. The Forum will allow a diverse group of people to work together to create a natural resources agenda for the 21st Century.

This project asks teachers and students to work together to create a vision of "their community" using text and maps, and post these on ESRI's web server. The result will be a searchable database of "community presentations." To complete the project, students and teachers can use existing GIS software, or they can request free "ArcVoyager Special Edition" software (built especially for school use), or they can use online mapping engines and a web browser. Schools submitting complete entries earn free GIS software to complement tools they may already have.

- NAAEE's Volunteer-led Investigations In Neighborhood Ecology (VINE) Network
Provides professional development and colleagial support for leaders of local urban ecology programs in cities across the country. The site contains information about VINE Programs and the large collection of guided inquiries and allied materials that NAAEE distributes to aid volunteers in leading 8 to 11 year-olds in discovering the diverse array or organisms and ecological relationships that exist right in their own neighborhoods.

Linking Art and Post-Industrial Restoration via urban-riparian restoration of open space, in a community setting.
- NSIP - NASA Student Involvement Program
A national program of five competitions that links students directly with NASA's diverse and exciting mission of research, exploration and discovery. Educator Resource Guides for all the competitions are available on the web site. Deadline: February 1, 2000.

A resource, developed by students, on towns throughout North America that will be accessible through the Foundation's Web site. As part of their classroom and extracurricular activities, students research information about their community, develop Web pages, and create a Web site for their town. Students work with others outside their school--local businesses, community organizations, government offices--to develop or encourage them to develop Web pages for their town's Web Site.
