The Biological ESTEEM collection which integrates data into lessons at the undergraduate level in various topics: botany, ecology, genetics, etc.
- Environmental Health Program Online
A great site with lessons based on current research on environmental health topics.
- NOAA: Education Home Page
The general NOAA education site with lots of links to resources and lessons on oceans, coral reefs, tides, and estuaries.
- Puget Sound Project
Middle school focused marine lesson plans based on the Puget Sound ecosystem.
- Project Flow: Fisheries Learning on the Web
Curriculum on the Great Lakes that is focused on upper elementary and middle school students, but still has some great resources. Units include: food web, fish, and water.
- Toxic and Harmful Algal Blooms
A site with five lessons (with experiments) about toxic algal blooms that are geared towards a variety of grade levels, and help students understand how algae is important in food webs.
- Gulf Stream Voyage
A curriculum designed around the science of the gulf stream, including real time ocean data, with extension activities that help students understand a variety of topics such as climate change and fishing.
- Teaching Issues and Experiments in Ecology
Published by the Ecological Society of America, these articles are aimed at higher level students and guides them through using data.
- ChesSIE
A comprehensive site from the Chesapeake Bay region that includes lesson plans broken down by age group and data for the Bay.
- For Sea: Institute of Marine Science
Curriculum on the world's oceans, divided into age groups. Some lessons are available for download for teachers to try out, and the entire curriculum is available for purchase.
- Windows to the Universe
A curriculum developed for earth science and astronomy, but includes many lessons that may be helpful for teachers such as global warming. Many topics include easy-to read sections for students, and there is a Spanish-language version as well.
- Ocean Drilling Program: Greatest Hits
A number of lessons (including climate change and microbiology) developed around discoveries made by the Ocean Drilling Program.
- Ecology Connections
A Canadian website designed to give teachers and the public access to ecological research with overheads and some lesson plans.
- Center for Innovation in Engineering and Science Education
A combination of real-time projects, collaborative projects, and partner projects that allow teachers to explore everything from navigation to global warming to air pollution.
- Exploring the Environment
Modules on current topics of interest such as coral reefs, volcanoes, and severe weather. Each module includes background information, activities framed as 'challenges' for students, and helpful hints on how to teach the topic.
- National Science Digital Library: Middle School Science Portal
A 'clearinghouse' for online resources for middle school teachers, but many lessons were developed for middle and high school teachers.
- Finger Lakes Institute
The Finger Lakes Institute Science on Seneca program has several lesson plans relating to data collected from Seneca Lake, as well as other teacher resources.
