- Catskill Center for Conservation and Development
A wonderful resource with curriculum divided into sections based on the Catskill ecosystem. Modules are available online or by mail.
- New York-New Jersey Harbor Estuary Program
This guide includes resources for teachers, sample lesson plans and activities, and a directory of organizations that have estuary-related programs. You can print out a PDF version of the guide-it has an AMAZING amount of resources!
- Earth-2-Class
A collaboration between the researchers and educators at Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University and teachers from New York, New Jersey, and other areas. There are Saturday workshops and numerous resources on the website for teachers, mainly focusing on Earth Science themes.
- Hudson River Valley Institute
Part of Marist College, this website contains a Digital Library that allows users to view historical documents, including paintings, from the Hudson region.
- Clearwater
Clearwater provides educational programs on the Hudson River in its famous sloop, and also conducts in-classroom visits for teachers unable to come to the river.
- Scenic Hudson
Scenic Hudson conducts school programs at various sites throughout the valley, and its website offers information on many current issues in the valley: brownfields, development, and PCBs, to name a few. There is a great slide show that explains the PCB issue.
- Hudson River Estuary Program Lessons
A set of six lesson plans, with more to come, for elementary students using Snapshot Day data.
- Snapshot Day
An annual event, coordinated by Lamont Doherty, Hudson Basin River Watch, and the Hudson River Estuary Program, which gathers hundreds of students all along the Hudson River Estuary to test a number of indicators on the Hudson River. Teachers can participate with their students and will receive training and logistical support.
