The Ecosystem Literacy Initiative
Helping people understand how they are connected to the world around them.

Our Vision
A citizenry capable of engaging in informed dialogue and action regarding ecosystems.
A seamless bridge between current ecosystem thinking and the interested public.

Our Mission
To develop a "language" of ecosystems for the public -
a way of thinking about and understanding the ecosystems we depend upon -
that people can use in their day to day lives.

The Ecosystem Literacy Initiative will serve diverse and critical audiences:

  • teachers and environmental educators
  • environmental policy makers and natural resource managers
  • education researchers
  • new and established scientists
  • the general public
