Goals and Strategies of Ecology Education Fellowship Program

  1. We will provide unique professional development for young educators, contributing to the field.
  2. Fellows will grow as ecology educators, with an emphasis on integrating inquiry and constructivist approaches to teaching with field- and research-based teaching and learning of key ecology concepts, skills, processes and thinking modalities.
  3. Fellows will contribute to programs, bringing energy and focused effort, expertise, new ideas and creativity to our efforts.
  4. Fellows will contribute to the field of ecology education by producing something of substance and permanence to share with people. Possibilities for contributions to the field include:
    1. Write a paper based on an assessment of a specific program
    2. Develop an article on an innovative teaching technique
    3. Produce a teaching module for posting on the website
    4. Produce materials interpreting research for youth, teachers or the general public for the website
    5. Develop and document a new program for a local school or other group
    6. Present work at a regional or national conference
