TITLE: Summer Ecology Camp Instructor

POSTING DATE: February 3, 2012

LOCATION: Millbrook, NY

DURATION: Seasonal position, 4 to 6 weeks from June-Aug, 40 hours per week.

DUTIES: Instructors will work with the Education Program Specialist to implement all aspects of the Cary Institute Summer Ecology Day Camp for children in grades 2-7. Duties include teaching, developing curriculum, preparing materials, working with middle and high school junior counselors, and collaborating with educational and scientific staff. Camp activities include hiking, environmental games, nature arts & crafts, and ecology investigations in streams, forests, ponds and fields on a 2000-acre property in New York’s Hudson Valley. The theme of Ecology Camp this year is Limno-explorers, and thus many of the science activities will be based on the water cycle, watersheds and aquatic habitats

QUALIFICATIONS: Coursework completed in education and/or relevant scientific field, plus teaching experience and certification in first aid and CPR. Teachers are encouraged to apply.
