Tidal Marsh Ecology Research Fellowship

Teachers must commit to:

5 day summer institute
1 full day summer research trip
2 school year meetings
completing a lesson plan based on their research experience by June 2011
meeting with the Cary Institute educator during the school year to pilot lessons

Cary Institute will provide:

$450 stipend; paid in installments
travel support
meals during the school year meetings
full week of training
a chance to interact with other teachers and Cary Institute scientists
a chance to be a part of a research project

I understand that by submitting this registration I commit to attending the Summer Institute at the Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies from August 23-27, 2010, if selected to participate in the Tidal Marsh research project. If not selected, I may still attend the Summer Institute. I also understand that Cary Institute educators will visit my classroom twice during the school year to co-teach with me and/or try out new lessons with my students. I will commit to attending two follow up workshops during the 2010-2011 school year. I will submit a lesson plan based on my experience by June of 2011. I also attest that I have discussed this program with my principal and have received support for participating in this professional development program from him/her.
